If you're looking for something fun to do with the kids, consider the Crown Center in Kansas City. Right now, there are a lot of ongoing events. You can enjoy ice skating on the Ice Terrace ($6 for adults, free for those over 60 and under 4; $3 skate rental, may bring your own). There is a play area with super-sized Crayola products. Santa is in residence there until 12/24. Admission is free but there is a fee for photos with Santa. In the shopping center, there's a gingerbread village created by hotel chefs. There is free musical entertainment on Saturdays at noon and 2 p.m. Plus, of course, there's the 100-foot Douglas fir Christmas tree in the center square. See the website for more details.
